Many of our guests drive to midcoast Maine, and if you need help with directions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you don’t want to drive to Rockland, however, there are other options! Here are some suggestions for arriving in Rockland without your car:
Travel to Rockland by Air
The closest airport to Rockland, Maine is the Knox County Airport in Owl’s head, which is serviced by Cape Air This is a great option for people who want to fly into Boston and connect to Rockland. Rental cars are available at the Knox County Airport.
You can also terminate your flight at Portland, Bangor, or even Boston. From there, you can rent a car to drive the to Rockland or, if you want to be car-free, you can take the Concord Lines bus service right to the ferry terminal, three blocks from our house.
- In Portland, the bus station is about a ten minute cab ride (2.6 miles) from the airport.
- In Bangor, the bus station is less than a five minute cab ride (0.9 miles) from the airport.
- In Boston, you can catch the bus at the airport.
Travel to Rockland by Rail
Amtrak doesn’t travel all the way to Rockland, but you can catch the Downeaster line, which runs from Boston up to Portland, with additional service to Brunswick and Freeport (check schedules). From there, you can easily drive or catch the bus (above) to Rockland.
